A project combining digital visibility, B2B meetings and international promotion to connect Sicilian seafood companies with national and European buyers.

Blue2B Strengthens the Market Presence of Sicily’s Seafood Industry

In the seafood sector, the ability to remain competitive is no longer measured solely by product quality. What matters increasingly is how a company presents itself, makes itself known and arrives prepared for dialogue with buyers. It is on this ground that Blue2B takes shape, a project designed to strengthen the presence of Sicily’s seafood industry in national and European commercial circuits.

The core idea is simple, yet far from obvious: to build a path that does not end with a single day of meetings, but instead supports companies through a more structured market presentation. Blue2B combines two closely connected dimensions. On one side, there is the presence of businesses on Ittico Guida Buyer, where companies and product references are displayed in an orderly and easily consultable way. On the other, there is participation in a B2B event scheduled for May 29 in Mazara del Vallo, designed to encourage direct interaction with selected buyers.

It is precisely this connection between digital visibility and commercial relationships that makes the project particularly significant. In many cases, the limitation of business meetings lies in the fact that companies and buyers come to the table without a truly clear preliminary picture. Here, by contrast, the dialogue is built on an already established foundation. Buyers can learn in advance about the companies involved and their production profiles, while businesses arrive at the meeting with a more defined, more readable and potentially more effective presentation.

Mazara del Vallo is the natural setting in which this path takes form. Not only because of the city’s historic role in fishing and seafood processing, but also because of its symbolic strength within the Sicilian seafood supply chain. Bringing a project like Blue2B here means placing market dialogue within a territory that has built identity, reputation and recognizable production expertise over time.

The project involves a selection of Sicilian companies distinguished by processing capacity, specialization and added value. It is not, therefore, a generic showcase, but a path aimed at making businesses with a clear market proposition more visible and recognizable. This is a crucial point, because today the difference is determined not only by what a company produces, but also by its ability to present it in the right way to the right interlocutors.

Further strengthening the profile of Blue2B is the patronage of ICE – the Italian Trade Agency for the promotion and internationalization of Italian companies, an element that gives the initiative a broader outlook aligned with the goal of opening new commercial relationships beyond the local context. In the same direction goes the promotion of the project during Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, from April 21 to 23, 2026, one of the most important international events for the sector. Being present in that setting represents an important opportunity to raise the project’s visibility and connect with operators interested in learning more about Sicily’s production system.

What emerges most clearly is the intention to move beyond a fragmented logic of promotion. Blue2B does not simply line up companies and meetings, but seeks to build continuity between company storytelling, offer readability and commercial opportunity. It is an approach that responds to a concrete market need: reducing dispersion, improving the quality of dialogue and making every point of contact between producers and buyers more meaningful.

In this sense, Mazara del Vallo will not simply host an event, but will become the place where a broader project finds its most visible expression. It is a place where Sicily’s seafood supply chain will be called upon to present itself not only through the value of its products, but also through its ability to organize its market presence in a more aware, more readable and more competitive way.

The project is open to expressions of interest from buyers operating in organized retail and professional channels. Participation in the meetings will be assessed and defined by the organizers according to how closely each profile aligns with the aims of the initiative. For selected buyers, travel expenses and hospitality will be covered.

Interested buyers may express their interest by writing to blue2b@pesceinrete.com, attaching a brief presentation of their profile and the company they represent.

Blue2B is promoted by In Rete S.R.L. within the project “Blue2B – Strategic Connections for Sicily’s Seafood Industry in National and European Markets”, funded by the Sicilian Region – Department for Productive Activities – Budget Chapter 342525.
