Nostromo at Marca 2026: Innovation and Private Label Growth

Nostromo will be among the key players at Marca 2026. The iconic Italian canned seafood brand, present on Italian tables since 1951, has chosen the leading private label exhibition to reaffirm its role as a strategic partner for major Italian and international retailers. This positioning is built on a business model focused on innovation, with strong attention to environmental, economic and social sustainability across the entire supply chain.

The company’s debut at the event, scheduled for 14–15 January at BolognaFiere, marks a strategic milestone for Nostromo, now part of the international group Nauterra. To ensure increasingly high quality standards and respond to evolving consumer needs, the company has launched a major plant modernisation programme alongside process and product innovation initiatives—key drivers in strengthening the contribution of private label production to overall turnover.

At the exhibition space (Hall 29, Stand B67), visitors will be able to explore the values and distinctive identity of Nostromo’s extensive product range. The company is the only Italian canned seafood producer to own its own fishing fleet, a defining feature that supports its reputation for carefully selecting and artisanally processing only the finest tuna, achieving a product that is compact, tender and full of flavour.

Alongside its classic canned tuna in olive oil, sunflower oil and natural varieties, Nostromo will showcase a broad and flavourful assortment designed to meet the needs of an increasingly demanding, quality-conscious market. Thanks to partnerships with certified co-packers, the company also stands out as one of the few players capable of offering a complete range that includes mackerel, sardines and anchovies.

On display at Marca 2026 will also be the innovative Apri Gira Facile® line, which simplifies can opening through a rimless tin and a flexible lid featuring Real Peel® technology. The tuna slides directly onto the plate without the need for a fork, uses less oil and offers a more sustainable, practical solution—ideal even for consumption outside the home.

“Private labels are a fundamental pillar of our business model,” said Gianluca Cevenini, Commercial Director at Nostromo. “Our goal for 2026 is to bring their share to 40% of turnover, up 2% compared to 2025, while achieving overall growth of 4% and further consolidating our position as the second brand in the category. Participation in Marca 2026 represents a key opportunity to strengthen dialogue with modern retail and our partners, showcase both flagship products and the latest innovations, and reaffirm the values of quality, reliability and sustainability that have always defined our business model.”
