OHissa, a leading seafood company based in Maremma, proudly announces that it has reached a major milestone in global sustainability by obtaining the EcoVadis Gold Medal 2026. The company ranks in the 96th global percentile, placing it among the restricted top 5% of more than 3 million companies worldwide assessed for ESG performance, covering Environmental, Social and Governance criteria.
A climb towards excellence
The move from the Bronze Medal, obtained only in June of last year, to today’s Gold Medal represents an outstanding achievement. In just ten months, OHissa has carried out a deep transformation, strengthening its commitment and climbing the international rankings until it outperformed 96% of the companies assessed globally.
The pillars of success: environment, people and ethics
The EcoVadis assessment rewarded OHissa for concrete and measurable actions in three key areas.
Environment: OHissa achieved an excellent score thanks to its ISO 14001 certification, the use of renewable energy and the continuous improvement of energy efficiency through technological and equipment upgrades. The company also stood out for its water recycling practices and rigorous waste management.
Labour practices and human rights: The assessment recognized OHissa’s commitment to employee wellbeing through healthcare support plans, flexible work organization and advanced training and safety programmes.
Ethics: OHissa was also rewarded for its operational transparency, with structured anti-corruption policies and strict procedures for information security and data confidentiality.
The impact of this achievement
For OHissa, obtaining the Gold Medal reflects a forward-looking corporate strategy, where market competitiveness goes hand in hand with ethical integrity and respect for the planet. This result gives partners and customers the confidence of working with a company that adopts high international standards of transparency and responsibility.
“Reaching the global top 5% less than one year after obtaining the Bronze badge is a result that makes us extremely proud and rewards the determination of the entire OHissa team,” said Maurizio Manno, company administrator. “We have invested in clean technologies and in the wellbeing of our people, convinced that sustainability is not a cost, but the main driver of innovation. This Gold Medal is not a final destination, but confirmation that we are on the right path to lead change in our sector.”
